Best software and app development companies in Houston in 2026

Sixteen software and mobile app development companies with a headquarters or a staffed office in the Houston metro, every one under 50 staff on Clutch. We built the list because Google's first page for "app development company houston" is vendor city pages and one promotional Reddit post, and nobody on it is neutral. Each firm gets its Clutch facts as read on October 18, 2026, then a "good at" and a "what to check" drawn from its reviews and its own site, with every quote linked. Two disclosures: most lists Google shows for this search are written by a firm that puts itself first; Deepsel, the publisher, is a remote firm, so it isn't in the ranked table and appears once, after the local-versus-remote section, with the same comparison fields as the others.
The 16 firms at a glance
Sorted by Clutch review count, then rating, then name, so the order rewards a long public record and nothing else. The firm at fourteen may fit you better than the one at the top. Team, rating, hourly band and minimum are Clutch's listing fields; where a firm's own site disagrees, the profile says so.
| # | Firm | Based in | Founded | Team | Clutch rating (reviews) | Hourly band | Minimum project | Best for |

How we chose the firms
Four tests, in this order.
- In the Houston metro. A headquarters, or an office with people in it, in Houston or its suburbs: Sugar Land, The Woodlands, Katy, Spring, Cypress, Humble, Stafford. A second office counts when the Clutch profile shows a headcount for it, which is how Kinetech Cloud (10 to 15 people), Addevice (10 to 15), Serious Development (2 to 5) and Black Widow Tech (2 to 5) got in. A "Serves Houston" card does not count, paid or not: Kingsmen Digital Ventures buys a sponsored one from Irvine, California; Novateus, Inventive Works and Bless Web Designs have the plain kind. Semaphore Mobile is in Plano, in the Dallas metro. SevenTablets lists Addison first and has no reviews. And Square63, which Clutch places in Houston and nowhere else, says at the foot of its own homepage: "Custom software and AI engineering. Lahore, Pakistan, since 2011."
- Under 50 staff on Clutch. The 2 to 9 or 10 to 49 band. Thirty firms from Clutch's Houston lists or the competing articles are larger and were left out: TekRevol, Codup, AppVerticals, Synergy Labs, Plego, Glorium Technologies, Liquid Technologies, ISHIR, Softeq, Jalasoft, Mobisoft Infotech, Techgropse, Phenomenon Studio, Lollypop Design Studio, The Apptitude, Headspring, DESSS, Appicoders, Geeks Ltd, Pendoah, Improving, EiBS, Developer Bazaar Technologies, Tekglide, STX Next, Simform, iQlance Solutions, Five Pack, Simublade, ChaiOne. TekRevol, Softeq, Jalasoft, Mobisoft Infotech, Lollypop, EiBS and STX Next sit at 250 to 999, Improving and Simform at 1,000 to 9,999, the rest at 50 to 249. ClickySoft in Katy is 10 to 49 on Clutch, but its about page says "Today we're a team of 50+ designers, developers, and specialists" and, lower down, "a team of 150+ certified experts". We took the firm at its own word.
- Software or app development as the main line. The leading Clutch service lines have to be software, app, cloud or AI engineering. Out went the marketing agencies with a development sideline (ITVibes, Alkali), HasData (a web-scraping product, 70% data consulting on Clutch), and two firms that passed the first two tests. Techformia in Stafford sells website packages from "$ 399 /once" to "$ 12,999 /once" and logos from "$ 69 /once" on its pricing page, and every one of its Clutch reviews is a website or design job. Epicenter Consulting's site read "Site is undergoing maintenance" on October 18, 2026, and its newest review is from December 2023; it can return when the site does.
- A Clutch profile with at least one review. So the numbers can be checked. That left out Entrance Consulting (founded 2003, second on Plego's list, fifth on Azilen's, zero reviews), Bayard Bradford and Poetic Systems (zero), and Whale Song (one review, $300-plus an hour, $75,000 minimum).
Where the names came from. We paged through all three of Clutch's Houston lists on October 18, 2026: 297 software developers, 279 app developers, 505 web developers, 684 distinct firms. 484 are small firms with a metro address, 87 of those have a review, and 21 have ten or more, most of them web design or marketing shops. Then the competing articles (Plego, WTT Solutions, Azilen, LiqTeq, Chop Dawg, Appicoders, Purrweb, PowerGate, Innovination, Integrative Systems): of the sixteen Houston lists published by development firms, thirteen rank the publisher first, and none states a staff rule or shows review dates. We read 48 Clutch profiles and the firms' own sites. The same method, applied nationally, produced our list of small software development companies for startups.
Why the cut at 50. Below it the person who scopes the work usually builds it and the owner is on your calls; above it you get an account manager. A 16-person firm can still lose you between the sales call and the kickoff, which is why every profile has a "what to check".
The 16 software and mobile app development companies in Houston, one by one
Sources for every profile: the Clutch profile, read October 18, 2026, and the firm's own pages, linked where quoted.
1. Black Widow Tech
Austin, TX on Clutch; Spring, TX office of 2 to 5. Founded 2017. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.9 from 40 reviews. Hourly $25 to $49. Minimum $10,000+. blackwidowtech.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. The site's title tag is "#1 App Development & AI Agency in Texas"; Clutch has mobile at 30%, AI development 20%, AI consulting 10%. Forty reviews at 4.9 is the longest record of any small firm in the Houston pool, and the newest came from a speech therapy app founder on April 8, 2026. A client wrote: "The quality of their work has been nothing short of perfection." (Felted Global, Clutch, September 15, 2025). Co-founders Tahir and Ahmar Mansoor are named on the about page.
What to check. Clutch lists Austin first. The Spring office is the only one in the metro, and the Clutch card gives it 2 to 5 people. The about page says "Local US-based team (Houston, Austin, Dallas)", so ask which office your engineers sit in and whether $25 to $49 is their rate. No prices published.
2. App Maisters Inc.
Houston, TX (+ Sugar Land and Dallas). Founded 2014. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.9 from 25 reviews. Hourly $50 to $99. Minimum $5,000+. appmaisters.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Mobile is 25% of its Clutch work, AI 15%, and the profile cites ISO 27001 and 9001. The newest review is from the Town of Vail, January 20, 2026: "They were able to translate what we were looking for into an effective and functional mobile app that meets our needs." (Clutch). Named work: a quiz app for the Astros Foundation and the ShareOne banking app. The homepage claims "Trusted by 400+ clients and major brands since 2014".
What to check. No prices. Its Houston page says "we provide customized estimates after understanding the specific goals", so the first call is a scoping call, and the $5,000 minimum buys 50 to 100 hours at $50 to $99. The Clutch overview is signed by a VP of sales and the site names no founder; ask who runs the build.
3. Kinetech Cloud
San Antonio, TX; Houston office of 10 to 15. Founded 2014. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.9 from 15 reviews. Hourly $150 to $199. Minimum $100,000+. kinetechcloud.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. A Mendix partner: low-code is 40% of its Clutch work, cloud 20%, custom software 15%. The Houston office at 708 Main St holds 10 to 15 people per Clutch, a third of the firm. The flagship case is "Distributing ~$1 Billion USD: How Michigan.gov Rapidly Responded", and the about page lists the cities of Dallas and San Antonio as clients. One reviewer: "They listened to our pain points and needs and created a solution that exceeded our expectations." (South Texas Alliance for Orphans, Clutch, August 21, 2024). CEO Michael Guido.
What to check. The $100,000 minimum is the highest here, at $150 to $199 an hour: a firm for a funded department, not a first product. The newest review is from August 2024, so ask for 2025 or 2026 clients. Low-code means a Mendix licence after launch and a rebuild if you leave; get both costs in writing, and ask whether the Houston staff would be on your project.
4. Addevice
Yerevan, Armenia; Houston office of 10 to 15. Founded 2012. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 11 reviews. Hourly $25 to $49. Minimum $25,000+. addevice.io, Clutch profile.
Good at. Staff augmentation 20%, mobile 15%, then AI, custom software and low-code at 10% each. The Houston office on South Wilcrest Drive holds 10 to 15 people per Clutch, 26% of staff. A 2020 reviewer: "I was impressed that Addevice kept true to what we envisioned and developed it exactly the way we wanted to." (Marketing Manager, Clutch, July 7, 2020). The portfolio names Enlive, Sentinel, Tunemoji, Varpet and Woo.
What to check. HQ is Yerevan, Armenia, nine to ten hours ahead of Houston, and the homepage carries a "Top B2B App Developers in Armenia" badge; $25 to $49 is an Armenian rate. Ask what the Houston office does. The newest review is from August 16, 2023, and the about page returned a 404 on October 18, 2026, so no founder is named.
5. Octaria Software Development
Houston, TX (+ Ambler, PA). Founded 2018. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 10 reviews. Hourly Undisclosed. Minimum $10,000+. octaria.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Custom software 25%, AI 20%, cloud 15%, ERP 15%; the site calls itself an "AI-Native Software Agency in Houston", at 1801 Main St. The newest review is from Holloway Houston's project manager on an ERP rebuild: "If you come to them with a problem, you can trust them to come up with a solution." (Clutch, March 18, 2025). No firm here is on more of the competing lists: PowerGate ranks it first, Azilen second, Plego seventh.
What to check. The homepage now says "We're now becoming a product company" and pushes a waitlist for its AI agent products, with services as the second path (read October 18, 2026). Ask how long the services side stays staffed and what happens to your maintenance if the product takes off. Hourly undisclosed on Clutch, no prices on the site, no founder named.
6. Serious Development
Pasadena, CA; Houston office of 2 to 5. Founded 2012. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 8 reviews. Hourly $50 to $99. Minimum $50,000+. seriousdevelopment.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Custom software 40%, mobile 30%, BI and data 20%, AI 10%, with health care at the front of the site. A children's hospital's senior project manager wrote: "We are impressed with their ability to always be looking out for our best interests." (Clutch, September 19, 2022). The newest review is from Bio-Logic's director of sales, January 10, 2025; Purlin and Wivity are named. Founder Omie Ismail is listed as chief product manager.
What to check. HQ is Pasadena, California, two hours behind Houston. Clutch gives the Houston office at 10051 Olympia Drive 2 to 5 people, 31% of staff; ask whether they are engineers or account managers. The $50,000 minimum is the second highest here, so there is no small first job. No prices.
7. Tevpro
Houston, TX. Founded 2016. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.9 from 8 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $5,000+. tevpro.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Houston HQ on N Post Oak Road and a service list built for enterprise systems: API development and modernization 15% each, then AI, cloud, custom software, DevOps, ERP and mobile at 10%. The newest review is from OMI's president, August 18, 2026. From 2024: "The key to their success was transparency with the customer and ensuring they were happy every step of the way." (The Martelino Company, Clutch, December 12, 2024). The about page says "We do not offshore development, rely on junior teams, or take on projects we cannot deliver with precision." One case study is titled "Enterprise Web App Advances Houston Oil Firm".
What to check. The founders are unnamed; "The founders bring 60+ collective years of experience" is all the about page gives, so ask who leads your project. At $100 to $149 the $5,000 minimum is 35 to 50 hours, an assessment rather than a build. Nine service lines at 10 to 15% is a generalist. Ask for a reference on your kind of system.
8. TEXAS SOFTWARE
Spring, TX (+ Austin). Founded 2017. Team 2 to 9. Clutch 4.9 from 7 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $10,000+. texassoftware.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. The only 2 to 9 person firm on the list. Mobile 25%, application support 15%, custom software 15%, web 15%, and the clients are in energy compliance: Smith-Pinion OQSG's VP of compliance wrote "I'd never work with anyone else" (Clutch, January 21, 2021), and the newest review is from a senior regulatory analyst at a natural gas storage company (February 11, 2022). Cut-Out Construction is also named.
What to check. February 2022 is the newest review; ask for a 2025 or 2026 client. The site's title tag says "Custom software development company in Austin" while its about page says "A Digital Transformation Consulting Company in Houston, Texas." The only prices on the site are marketing retainers at $749, $1,399 and $1,999 a month (about page). With 2 to 9 people, ask who covers when the lead is away.
9. Ulfix
Katy, TX (+ Monterrey, Mexico). Founded 2014. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.1 from 7 reviews. Hourly $25 to $49. Minimum $25,000+. ulfix.dev, Clutch profile.
Good at. The delivery team is in Monterrey, Mexico, on Central Time within an hour of Houston all year. Staff augmentation is half the Clutch work, AI consulting 20%, custom software 20%. The newest review, from Sngular's country manager for Mexico: "I was impressed with their way of managing a project and being close to our needs and work peaks." (Clutch, October 23, 2024). Gersa Logistics is also named.
What to check. The 4.1 is the lowest rating here, and one review explains it: "They delivered low-quality work and lacked discipline." (Directing Manager, Logistics and Supply Chain Company, Clutch, February 13, 2024). Read it and ask what changed. The site blocked our reader on October 18, 2026 with an "Access Denied" page for proxy visitors. If you are holding a half-built product like that reviewer's, our project rescue page explains how we take one on.
10. App Nodex
Houston, TX. Founded 2018. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 6 reviews. Hourly $50 to $99. Minimum $25,000+. appnodex.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Downtown at 801 Travis St. Mobile development and mobile app marketing are 35% each on Clutch, custom software 30%, so the launch campaign is sold with the build. GoodFirms adds a 5.0 from five reviews. A founder wrote: "What impressed us most about App Nodex was their ability to understand our vision and turn it into something better." (Bound by Elizabeth, Clutch, July 23, 2026).
What to check. All six Clutch reviews arrived between July 14 and September 16, 2026, nine weeks, for a firm founded in 2018; a cluster like that is a question to ask, not a verdict. Its app cost calculator shows no figures and carries the line "Money saved with Trango Tech", a different company whose own Houston page ranks first on Brave for the app query. Ask who built the site and who writes the code. No founder named, and the phone number has a San Francisco area code.
11. United Developers
Houston, TX. Founded 2015. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 6 reviews. Hourly $50 to $99. Minimum $1,000+. udev.dev, Clutch profile.
Good at. The most mobile-heavy firm here: 60% mobile, 30% custom software, 10% web. A telecom CTO wrote: "They showed strong skills, good communication, and honest billing." (Clutch, February 7, 2022); the newest review is from a health-tech CEO, July 7, 2025. The site carries a testimonial from CloudSight's CEO, Brad Folkens, and shows Emojam, Vibes Map and Neighbors1. CEO Margarita Kurdyuk is on the team page.
What to check. The $1,000 minimum is the lowest on the list and a Clutch listing field, not an offer; ask what $1,000 buys. Six reviews in eleven years is thin. The homepage contact block reads "Office in US" above the North Freeway address, a phrasing that often means the engineers are elsewhere, so ask where the developers sit and which hours overlap yours. No prices.
12. Espresso Moon
Spring, TX. Founded 2004. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.8 from 6 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $25,000+. espressomoon.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. The oldest firm here. Custom software 30%, mobile 30%, AI 10%. Real estate, energy and manufacturing are its markets, and the about page reads: "Based in Spring, Texas, we serve clients across the Houston area and nationwide." "Working with Espresso Moon, we've never had a project fail." (VP of Operations, Funeral Concierge Service, Clutch, June 10, 2021); the newest is from MOMENTA TECH's CEO, February 3, 2025.
What to check. Six reviews in twenty-two years means most clients never wrote one; ask for two to phone. The 4.8 says someone held back, so read that review first. $25,000 at $100 to $149 is 170 to 250 hours; scope the first milestone inside it. No leader named on the pages we read, no prices.
13. Enginerasoft
Sugar Land, TX. Founded 2020 on Clutch; site says since 2015. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 5 reviews. Hourly $25 to $49. Minimum $5,000+. enginerasoft.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Ten Clutch service lines at 10% each, from AI and testing to mobile, wearables and web. Bizhippo's founder wrote: "They have been my most successful collaboration on software thus far." (Clutch, September 24, 2024). The portfolio shows a medication-management app and Power BI dashboards for an equipment rental business; Mindline, Home Theater Direct and KineticBlu.ai are named. Founder and CEO Alex Goroshko and CTO Pavel Konan are on the about page.
What to check. Two founding dates: Clutch 2020, site "Since 2015". The about page claims "2k + Satisfied Clients" against five Clutch reviews, and says "Our headquarters is in Texas, USA, but our impact is global", which at $25 to $49 an hour is a reason to ask where the engineers are. Newest review September 2024.
14. Gulf Coast Solutions
Humble, TX. Founded 2012. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 5 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $10,000+. gcsworks.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Custom software 25%, modernization 25%, product design 15%, plus Mach1, its own field-operations product for construction and industrial crews. Every reviewer is industrial. Becht Industrial's cost manager wrote "Gulf Coast Solutions is always ready to jump in and help get the job done, day or night." (Clutch, October 17, 2024); the newest is a director at an oil and gas company, November 19, 2024. The homepage claims it "Supported one industrial contractor as it grew from startup to $300 million in revenue".
What to check. All five reviews landed between October 4 and November 19, 2024, seven weeks, with nothing before or since for a twelve-year-old firm. Ask for a 2026 client you can call, and if your business is not industrial, for a reference that is not. No founder named, no prices.
15. TechVora
Houston, TX (+ St. Petersburg, FL). Founded 2021. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 5 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $10,000+. techvora.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Houston, 5120 Woodway Drive, with a second office in St. Petersburg, Florida. Cloud consulting is 75% of its Clutch work, BI 15%, custom software 10%: a cloud and data shop first. The reviewers are mostly medical bodies. The American College of Emergency Physicians' systems engineering director wrote "Their leadership, technical prowess, business acumen, and professionalism are most impressive." (Clutch, November 27, 2024); the newest is Finwello's CEO, January 15, 2025. The about page states "Our team of experienced professionals is US-based unless you request otherwise". Founder and CEO Josh Lefebvre.
What to check. Custom software is a tenth of the work; if you need an application built from nothing, ask how many they have shipped end to end. One review names "LefeWare Solutions LLC", which looks like a former name; ask. Founded 2021, newest review January 2025, no prices.
16. Dream Beyond
Cypress, TX. Founded 2014. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.9 from 5 reviews. Hourly $25 to $49. Minimum $50,000+. letsdreambeyond.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Cypress on Clutch, "a Houston-based technology company" on its about page, and a "City of Houston Certified SBE". Custom software is 60% of its Clutch work, on .NET and Azure. The one local firm with published development prices: "$1,500 fixed System Connection Audit", "$7,500 fixed Legacy Application Health Check", "$10,000 fixed Custom Software Discovery Sprint", "Starting at $12,500 AI Workflow Automation Sprint", "Starting at $20,000 Legacy Modernization Sprint" (engagement models). The newest review is from DM Clinical Research, August 4, 2026; GeoMark Research's president wrote "The most significant thing to me was that Ali always kept the business goal in mind." (Clutch, December 9, 2021). That Ali is founder Ali Kitabi.
What to check. Clutch says the minimum is $50,000; the site sells a $1,500 audit. Ask which applies to you. A Houston-based firm at $25 to $49 an hour is unusual on this list, so ask where the engineers are. It operates as HRZ Solutions, LLC doing business as Dream Beyond; check the entity on the contract. Five reviews in twelve years.
Hiring a software development company in Houston versus a remote team: the rates
Start with the directory's own answer. Clutch's Houston page says "most Clutch-listed Houston agencies charge: $80–$150 per hour for custom development $15,000–$40,000 for a small business website (5–15 pages) $50,000–$150,000+ for complex e-commerce or SaaS platforms" (Clutch, read October 18, 2026). No method is attached, and Clutch has no Houston pricing page; the four URLs where one would live returned 404 the same day.
So we counted the cards. On Clutch's Houston software developers list, 198 of 297 firms disclose a band: 34% at $25 to $49, 26% at $50 to $99, 21% at $100 to $149, 8% at $150 to $199, with the under-$25 and $200-plus bands making up the rest (Clutch, our count, October 18, 2026). Among small firms with a metro address and at least one review, 76 of 87 disclose: 30%, 26%, 26% and 13% in the same bands. The Houston price is not one number. It is two populations.
The first is offshore firms with a Houston address: Square63, Houston on Clutch and Lahore on its own footer; Ansi ByteCode, HQ Ahmedabad, whose Clutch card reads "13% of employees work in Houston office", 2 to 5 people; GR Tech in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, at under $25 an hour. On this list, Addevice (Yerevan) and Ulfix (Monterrey) are the open versions of the same shape. The second population says the opposite out loud and prices for it: Tevpro's "We do not offshore development" at $100 to $149, TechVora's "US-based unless you request otherwise" at the same band, Espresso Moon and Gulf Coast Solutions beside them, Kinetech Cloud at $150 to $199. Two exceptions. Dream Beyond calls itself Houston-based and Black Widow Tech calls its team "Local US-based", and both list $25 to $49.
The wage data sets the floor. The Bureau of Labor Statistics counted 22,940 software developers in the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metro in May 2025, at a mean $64.01 an hour or $133,130 a year, about 10% below the national $71.20 (BLS OEWS, May 2025). A firm paying that, plus benefits, management, sales and unbilled hours, cannot sell a senior engineer at $40. Clutch's national guide says the same from the other side: the US average is "$50 - $99", India, the Philippines, Ukraine and Mexico are "$25 - $49", and "Most software development companies listed on Clutch charge between $24–$49/hour" (Clutch pricing guide, updated September 21, 2026). A $25 to $49 Houston card usually means a team in one of those countries. It is always a reason to ask.
Both sides of the local argument come from sellers. Clutch's case for a hometown firm, on the same Houston page: meetings in person, sprints in Central Time, discovery on site that shortens timelines, and a team that knows energy, health care, logistics and Texas privacy rules. Chop Dawg, a Philadelphia firm whose Houston list ranks for the 2026 query, argues the reverse there and in a Reddit comment by its founder: an office nearby is a convenience, daily chat and a weekly video call do the job, and the local premium buys nothing you need. Clutch is right for a buyer whose organisation runs on meetings, Chop Dawg for a founder who needs senior hours and a shipped product.
Houston's own Reddit history points away from agencies altogether. Someone asking in 2014 where to find a local Android developer was told: "there are tons of solid mobile developers around Houston, both freelancers and dedicated agencies. Have you looked at either the Houston Digital Jobs Group or the Houston Programmers Group on Facebook?" (r/houston, October 2014). In 2015 the advice was to ship a mobile web version first (r/houston); in 2018 a retailer after a custom point of sale got a CPA's referral to one developer (r/houston). The one 2026 thread we found, in a promotional subreddit with the question itself removed, drew this:
Who is buying shows in the reviewers: oil and gas, gas storage and industrial contractors at Gulf Coast Solutions, TEXAS SOFTWARE, Tevpro and Dream Beyond; hospitals and medical associations at Serious Development, United Developers and TechVora. That matches the city. The Texas Medical Center, recognised in September 2026 as the world's largest medical complex, employs more than 120,000 people (Becker's Hospital Review, September 21, 2026), and Houston-area startups raised $1.75 billion in venture capital in 2025 and $962.4 million in the first half of 2026, per PitchBook figures reported by InnovationMap. The local firms are built for those buyers. That matters if you are a founder with a consumer app and $30,000.
Consider working remotely
Deepsel publishes this page, and since we are a remote firm and the thread above names Houston, we include our details down here. The prices below are our prices.
Deepsel
Wilmington, Delaware company (registered office); team based in Hanoi, Vietnam. Founded 2019. Team 1 to 3. No Clutch reviews yet. Hourly None (flat prices): $3,000 one-week sprint; $4,000 a month half-day or $8,000 full-time per senior engineer; $15,000 a month fractional CTO with build team. Minimum $3,000 (the sprint). deepsel.com. Best for: Non-technical founders who want prices published and the code in their own accounts.
Good at. Deepsel Inc. is a Delaware company. The engineers are senior, sit in Hanoi, Vietnam, and work a daily window that overlaps US business hours, led by the founder, Tim Tran. The work is AI and automation, custom software, web and mobile apps, SaaS platforms, MVPs, legacy modernization and a fractional CTO who builds. Live products: Clubloungery, a booking marketplace; FitFoodies, a consumer app; and eIAM, the Swiss federal administration's central login, whose front end was replaced with no downtime. More project info are on the projects page. Contracts run month to month with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and the IP, repositories and servers are yours from the first commit. Prices and terms are on the software development for startups page.
What to check. No Clutch reviews, so judge us on live products and contract terms. The shipped projects are European. The target market is US startups. The team is small, so there's a waitlist when it's full, and meetings happen inside the US overlap window. And we wrote this page, so read this row with the same suspicion as the others.
Other cities: we keep the same table for Dallas, New York, Chicago and Austin.
Software development companies in Houston: frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to build an app with a Houston development company?
Nobody on this list publishes a price for a whole app, so the ranges come from the directories. Clutch's Houston page puts a small business website of 5 to 15 pages at $15,000 to $40,000 and a complex e-commerce or SaaS platform at $50,000 to $150,000 or more (Clutch, read October 18, 2026). Chop Dawg's Houston list puts a minimum viable product at $15,000 to $50,000 (Chop Dawg, July 2026). Minimums here run from $1,000 (United Developers) to $100,000 (Kinetech Cloud), and Dream Beyond's fixed offers start at $1,500. Our MVP development cost guide and SaaS development cost guide break down the national figures.
What does custom software development cost in Houston?
Clutch's Houston FAQ puts custom development at $80 to $150 an hour (Clutch, read October 18, 2026), and Techreviewer's Houston page says "It will cost between $25,000 to $300,000 or more to develop software in Houston" (Techreviewer, October 2026). Neither shows a method. On this list the US-staffed firms sit at $100 to $199 an hour and the five firms at $25 to $49 are the ones to ask about engineer location; the rates section above goes firm by firm. The custom software development cost guide covers what moves a quote.
What do Houston software developers charge per hour?
Two answers, both from October 18, 2026. Among the 87 small Clutch firms with a metro address and at least one review, 76 disclose a band: 30% say $25 to $49, 26% $50 to $99, 26% $100 to $149 and 13% $150 to $199 (Clutch, our count; the count for all 297 Houston software developers is in the rates section above). The wage data behind those bands, from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, is in the rates section above.
How long does a Houston firm take to build an app or a system?
None of the 16 publishes a delivery time for a full application. The published pieces are short: Dream Beyond's audit is "Within 5 business days" and its AI workflow sprint runs "in 3 to 4 weeks" (engagement models); Deepsel's sprint is one week, and a first product under the fractional CTO retainer takes one to two months. For anything bigger, ask for the date of the first working milestone rather than the finish date, and for a reference whose project overran.
How do I check a Houston software company before I sign?
Four free checks. Sort the Clutch reviews by most recent and look at the dates: six reviews from nine weeks of 2026 (App Nodex) or five from seven weeks of 2024 (Gulf Coast Solutions) tell you something the 5.0 does not. Compare the firm's own site with Clutch on location and headcount; Square63 and ClickySoft, in the method section above, show how far the two can drift. Open the office line on the Clutch profile, which gives a headcount per city: 2 to 5 at Serious Development's Houston office, one person at Vinnove's. Then read Clutch's own red flags for Houston firms, which include opaque pricing and no Git repository (Clutch). Our guide on how to choose a software development company has the full question list.
Should I hire a Houston firm or a remote team?
Local if your buyer or your data needs someone in the room: a hospital system, an oil major, a city contract, discovery sessions on site in Central Time. Those are the $100 to $199 firms above, and the premium pays for the meetings. Remote if what you need is hours of senior engineering and a shipped product, and you can name the overlap window you want before the first call. Either way, ask where the engineers sit. Five of the sixteen Houston firms here list the $25 to $49 band that Clutch's own guide associates with India and Mexico, and Houston's own Reddit threads, quoted in the rates section, have pointed askers at freelancers and meetups rather than agencies since 2014.
Who owns the code when a Houston firm builds my app?
Whoever the contract says, so read it before kickoff. The repository, the app store accounts and the cloud account go in your name from day one with the firm added as a collaborator, and the IP transfers on payment of each invoice, not at the end. Clutch's red-flag list for Houston firms names the lack of a Git repository as a warning sign (Clutch). Deepsel's terms put the IP, repositories and servers in the client's name from the first commit; ask every firm here for the same sentence.
Is Deepsel the best company on this list?
No. The table is sorted by Clutch review count, and Deepsel has no Clutch reviews and no Houston office, so it sits outside the ranked table. It is here because we publish the page and sell against the firms on it. On the record, Black Widow Tech and App Maisters have the most reviews, Tevpro and TechVora say in writing that the work stays in the US, and Dream Beyond is the only local firm with development prices on its site. What Deepsel offers is a published price list, a one-week paid test and the code in your accounts. Nobody paid to be listed and nobody was told they would be.
