Best software and app development companies in Dallas in 2026

Aerial view of downtown Dallas with Bank of America Plaza and the Old Red Courthouse under a cloudy sky

Fourteen software and mobile app development companies in Dallas–Fort Worth, each under 50 staff on Clutch. Thirteen are headquartered in the metro; the fourteenth, App Maisters, runs a staffed Dallas office from a Houston headquarters, and its row says so. Each entry carries the Clutch fields shown in the table, read on October 18, 2026, then what the firm does well and what to ask before the first call. Two disclosures: most lists Google shows for this search are written by a firm that puts itself first; Deepsel, the publisher, is a remote firm, so it isn't in the ranked table and appears once, after the local-versus-remote section, with the same comparison fields as the others.

The 14 software development companies in Dallas at a glance

The order is Clutch review count, then rating, then name. More reviews means an older firm, not a better one. Hourly bands and minimums are Clutch's listing fields; where a firm's own site gives a different number, the profile quotes it. Eight of the 14 have no Clutch review dated 2025 or later; the note under the criteria names them.

# Firm Based in Founded Team Clutch rating (reviews) Hourly band Minimum project Best for

How we chose the firms

Four tests, applied in this order.

  1. Headquartered in the metro. The first location on the Clutch profile is in Dallas, Plano, Addison, Allen or Richardson, or the firm's own site shows a staffed Dallas office. Thirteen pass on the profile; App Maisters passes on its site (HQ Houston, Dallas office on LBJ Freeway). A Dallas city on the directory row was not enough, because Clutch's directory shows a DFW city for firms whose profile puts the headquarters elsewhere. Out on that basis: Kingsmen Digital Ventures (Irvine, CA, holder of the sponsored "Serves Dallas" slot at the top of Clutch's Dallas app list), Dedicated Developers (Atlanta), Atmosphere Apps (Gainesville, FL), Black Widow Tech and The BHW Group (both Austin), Olearis (Kyiv), Build Me App (Toronto), Serious Web (Yerevan), NorthBuilt (Saint Paul) and Alata Technologies, whose profile says Dallas while its own site lists offices in Santa Clara, Manchester, Dubai and Delhi only.
  2. Under 50 staff. The firm sits in Clutch's 2 to 9 or 10 to 49 band, the same cut as our national list of small software development companies for startups. Eighteen firms from the other Dallas lists were checked and left out: AppVerticals, ISHIR, Unique Software Development, Bottle Rocket, Five Pack, iQlance Solutions, TatvaSoft, Dialexa, Designli, TechGropse, Agency Partner Interactive, Retrocube, TechnBrains, Ascendix Technologies, TekRevol, Apptunix, Zazz, ScienceSoft. AppVerticals appears on 23 of the ranking pages we read, ISHIR on 22, Unique Software Development on 19, Bottle Rocket on 18 and Five Pack on 14. All are 50 to 249 on Clutch except TatvaSoft at 1,000 to 9,999 and TekRevol and ScienceSoft at 250 to 999; TekRevol, Apptunix and Zazz are also headquartered in Houston, India and Toronto. Simform, Andersen, Radixweb, Experion, Improving, CodeNinja and eight more are in the 250-plus bands and went the same way.
  3. Builds software, mobile or web applications as its main line. The largest Clutch service lines are custom software, mobile or web development, not web design or marketing. Red Spot Design (85 reviews), Bless Web Designs (56) and Hooked On Code (34) are web design shops by their own profiles and fell here. So did Copper Digital, which seven lists still call Copper Mobile: it now sells AI automation to home-health agencies and publishes no rate or minimum.
  4. A working website and at least two Clutch reviews. On October 18, 2026, Vega's domain served a gambling page, Pixoul's redirected to a cycling blog and IntelliCeed's returned a server error on two tries, so all three are out whatever their ratings. CrateBind (two reviews, newest 2023) and NGS Solution (three reviews, founded 2023) passed the letter of the rule and were kept as backups rather than entries.

The names came from two places: every row of Clutch's Dallas app, software and web developer directories (355, 401 and 257 rows parsed; 398 distinct firms under 50 staff with a DFW address), and the 57 ranking pages and Reddit posts that Google and Brave return for the five Dallas search terms. From there we read 43 full Clutch profiles, every review on the 14 that passed (171 in all) and the firms' own sites. Every field above comes from that October 18, 2026 read, and each profile links to its source. Nobody paid to be here.

On the stale reviews. Eight firms (Groove Jones, D3V, Sparkfish, Squareball, Deep Space Robots, HeavyTask, Lucky Media, Pixel and Texel) have no Clutch review dated 2025 or later, and three have nothing since 2021 or earlier. We kept them because the alternative was a list of six, and a 2010 firm with five reviews is still a real firm with a real office. Read the dates before the stars, and ask every firm for a client from the last twelve months you can call.

The 14 Dallas software and app development companies, one by one

Two paragraphs per firm. "Good at" covers the work, what the firm publishes and a line from a client review. "What to check" is the question we'd put to the firm before signing, taken from the gaps in its public record. The sources are the Clutch profile, read October 18, 2026, and the firm's own site.

1. dev.family

Addison, TX (+ Lisbon, Portugal). Founded 2015. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 29 reviews. Hourly $50 to $99. Minimum $50,000+. dev.family, Clutch profile.

Good at. The longest Clutch record here: 29 reviews at 5.0, split evenly between mobile and web. The site leans into food tech and e-commerce and counts "30+ Employees" across three offices (about page). A restaurant-app guide on its blog lists feature prices such as "Personal account with users – $2-4k; Menu – $2-4k" (restaurant app guide). The newest review, from the CTO of 9D Breathwork on August 20, 2026: "Their responsiveness and attention to detail made the collaboration smooth and efficient" (Clutch, August 2026).

What to check. Clutch's second location is Lisbon and the site says three offices. Ask which engineers in which city would work on your project, and how many hours overlap with Central time. Only 3 of 29 reviews are dated 2025 or later. The minimum is $50,000, and the about page names the founder only as "Max B."

2. App Maisters

Houston, TX (Dallas office at 3010 LBJ Freeway). Founded 2014. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.9 from 25 reviews. Hourly $50 to $99. Minimum $5,000+. appmaisters.com, Clutch profile.

Good at. Mobile is 25% of its Clutch work, AI 15%, custom software 10%. Site case studies include the Astros Foundation, an artificial heart pump app and a COVID-19 vaccination platform. Seven of 25 reviews are dated 2025 or later, the freshest record on this list; the newest is from a manager at Ecowater Texas in Dallas, August 21, 2026. The Town of Vail wrote in January 2026 that the firm was "able to translate what we were looking for into an effective and functional mobile app that meets our needs" (Clutch, January 2026).

What to check. The headquarters is Houston on Clutch; the Dallas address appears on the firm's Dallas page, so ask who sits at LBJ Freeway. The same Vail review carries the one hard complaint on this page: "However, they failed to deliver the app within the agreed timeline" (January 20, 2026). Put milestone dates and the remedy for a slip in the contract. If a build has already slipped elsewhere, our project rescue page explains how a second team takes it on.

3. Groove Jones

Dallas, TX (+ Seattle, WA). Founded 2015. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.9 from 23 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $25,000+. groovejones.com, Clutch profile.

Good at. An "AI, AR/VR & Immersive Studio" by its own description, and Clutch agrees: AR/VR 45%, AI 20%, web 15%, AI consulting 10%, mobile 10%. The homepage headlines an Apple Vision Pro project for Pfizer, a Toyota Mirai configurator and a Clio Sports award for Dallas Mavericks work; CEO Dale Carman is named there. Reviewers include FC Dallas, Medtronic and Advantage Unified Commerce; FC Dallas's VP of Marketing wrote that "they generate content that looks very real" (Clutch, August 2022).

What to check. The newest of the 23 reviews is dated November 8, 2023. The work is immersive and marketing-led, so for an app with accounts, payments and reporting, ask for a comparable build. GoodFirms lists the firm at under $25 an hour with 50 to 249 staff, against Clutch's $100 to $149 and 10 to 49 (GoodFirms Dallas app list, October 18, 2026); ask which pair is right.

4. Semaphore Mobile

Plano, TX. Founded 2002. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 22 reviews. Hourly $50 to $99. Minimum $5,000+. semaphoremobile.com, Clutch profile.

Good at. Twenty-four years old, 22 reviews at 5.0, six of them dated 2025 or later. Clutch: custom software 25%, mobile 20%, web 20%, e-commerce marketing 15%, e-commerce development 10%, UX/UI 10%. The CEO is Eric Silverthorn (about page). The newest review, from the owner of CarZilly in Rockwall on July 12, 2026: "Semaphore Mobile truly strives to make our project a success and cheers us on to succeed along the way" (Clutch, July 2026).

What to check. No price is published. The FAQ says "We typically offer fixed-scope or milestone-based pricing" (FAQ page). Fixed scope suits a buyer who can't read code if the scope document is specific, so ask what a change order costs. The founder's view on offshore work is quoted in the local-versus-remote section below.

5. ENO8

Dallas, TX. Founded 2016. Team 2 to 9. Clutch 4.9 from 14 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $25,000+. eno8.com, Clutch profile.

Good at. A product studio run by founder Jeff Francis, who writes the firm's blog (one post on keeping costs down), and the small firm that the most Dallas lists name: seventeen, more than any other here. Clutch: mobile 30%, custom software 20%, product design 20%, UX/UI 20%, web design 10%. The newest review, from the former president and CTO of Daxxion on January 23, 2025: "The team was very involved in making sure we were delivered exactly what met our expectations" (Clutch, January 2025).

What to check. Two to nine people, and one review since the start of 2025. The about page returned a 404 on October 18, 2026, so ask where the team works day to day and who covers when the founder is out. At $100 to $149 an hour, $25,000 buys 170 to 250 hours. Get the first milestone as a fixed price.

6. D3V Technology Solutions

Plano, TX. Founded 2011. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 11 reviews. Hourly $25 to $49. Minimum $1,000+. d3vtech.com, Clutch profile.

Good at. A Google Cloud partner: cloud consulting 25%, custom software 25%, web 20%, BI and big data 10%, application modernization 10% on Clutch. Founder and CEO Steve Sangapu is named on the about page. The president of Cryptosoft in Plano wrote on May 12, 2024 that "The team was good at pivoting to new ideas and suggestions as they arose" (Clutch, May 2024). The $1,000 minimum is the lowest on the page.

What to check. $25 to $49 an hour is the lowest band among the Dallas-headquartered firms here, and the band Clutch's national guide assigns to India, Ukraine, Mexico and the Philippines, so ask where the delivery team sits before you read anything into the rate. No review since May 2024, and the mix is cloud and data first; for a consumer app, ask for one they have shipped.

7. Sparkfish

Addison, TX. Founded 2017. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 10 reviews. Hourly $150 to $199. Minimum $250,000+. sparkfish.com, Clutch profile.

Good at. "A data and software consultancy in Addison, Texas" selling "Data and AI Strategy for the Mid-Market" (about page). On Clutch, BI and big data is 60% of the work, custom software 20%, AI 10%, web 10%; the principals are Jonathan Boarman and Jonathan Sato. Reviewers include IAT Insurance Group, Knect and a private equity firm; the CEO of Knect in Dallas wrote that "They feel like they're a part of my team instead of a company I've hired" (Clutch, August 2022).

What to check. The $250,000 minimum is the highest on this page by a wide margin, and 60% of the work is data rather than apps. For a mobile product this is the wrong door; for a data platform with a quarter-million budget it's the only firm here built for that. The newest review is dated November 22, 2023, so ask for a 2025 or 2026 client you can call.

8. Access Solutions

Allen, TX. Founded 2016. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.9 from 10 reviews. Hourly $50 to $99. Minimum $5,000+. access.dev, Clutch profile.

Good at. A web and commerce shop: web 40%, e-commerce 25%, custom software 20%, UX/UI 10%, IT strategy 5% on Clutch, selling B2B portals, platform migration and white-label delivery. Four of 10 reviews are dated 2025 or later; the newest, from a department director at Blueland on March 10, 2026: "The team is incredibly hard-working and thorough" (Clutch, March 2026). No third-party Dallas list names it; it came straight out of Clutch's directory.

What to check. The about page says "Our international team consists of veteran engineers across our offices in the USA, Canada, and Europe" (about page), and no founder is named on the pages we read. Ask who leads the firm, who would lead your project and which office they sit in; and if your product is not a store or a portal, ask for a comparable build.

9. Squareball Studios

Dallas, TX (+ Cali, Colombia). Founded 2015 on Clutch; site says 2013. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.9 from 9 reviews. Hourly $50 to $99. Minimum $25,000+. squareballstudios.com, Clutch profile.

Good at. Custom software 30%, mobile 25%, web 25%, AR/VR 10%, UX/UI 10% on Clutch. Named clients on the site: Yelp, Bausch Health and Vanity Fair, plus a claim of "137 Unique Startups as clients". The CEO of Harmonee wrote on September 10, 2021 that "Squareball Studios' communication was their more impressive asset" (Clutch, September 2021).

What to check. That 2021 review is the newest of nine. The company has since rebranded: the homepage title now reads "AI Automation Agency | SBS", and the about page describes "Our nearshore development model" with offices in Dallas and Cali. Two founding dates (2015 on Clutch, "Est. 2013" on the site). Ask what the firm builds today, who in Dallas versus Cali does the work, and for two recent clients.

10. Deep Space Robots

Richardson, TX. Founded 2010. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 5 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $25,000+. deepspacerobots.com, Clutch profile.

Good at. Sixteen years old, run by founder and CEO Rob Momary: custom software 30%, mobile 25%, web 25%, AI consulting 10%, UX/UI 10% on Clutch. Projects on the site include First15 and a wedding cost calculator for ClubCorp. The director of marketing at Nota wrote on August 18, 2024 that "Deep Space Robots' understanding of the project tone and goals is invaluable" (Clutch, August 2024).

What to check. Five reviews in sixteen years, the newest from August 2024. The site says "We're based in Dallas, but we have a remote-friendly work culture" (home page), so ask where the engineers are. Two navigation notes: the root URL is a splash page and the content lives at /home/, and the right Clutch slug is deep-space-robots-0.

11. HeavyTask

Dallas, TX. Founded 2016. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 4 reviews. Hourly $50 to $99. Minimum $5,000+. heavytask.com, Clutch profile.

Good at. Custom software 30%, mobile 30%, staff augmentation 15%, IT strategy 10%, web 10% on Clutch, with Salesforce work on the site. CEO and founder Shah Tashfiq is named on the about page, and the reviewers are EME International, Partners In Energy and BOLA granola. The $5,000 minimum leaves room for a small first job.

What to check. The about page says "Based in Dallas, TX, with a growing team around the World", and the newest review, from the owner of EME International on November 19, 2020, says "They always meet deadlines and are always communicating with me even though we have a 12 hour time difference" (Clutch, November 2020). A 12-hour gap puts the engineers on the other side of the planet, fine if you know it going in. Nothing newer than 2020; ask for a recent client.

12. Lucky Media

Dallas, TX. Founded 2014. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 4 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $25,000+. luckymedia.dev, Clutch profile.

Good at. Two brothers, Arlind and Lokman Musliu, own and run it (about page). The homepage title reads "Next.js & Astro Website Agency | Contentful & Statamic"; Clutch: custom software 30%, mobile 20%, web 20%, staff augmentation 10%, low/no code 10%, UX/UI 10%. Prices are on the blog: a small site of 5 to 7 pages at $20,000 to $30,000, and a 10- to 15-page site at $30,000 to $40,000 (Astro website cost post). Reviewers are data.world and MyBodyTutor, whose CTO called the firm "reliable partners throughout the entire process" (Clutch, November 2024).

What to check. A website shop first. If your product needs accounts, payments and a back end, ask for a build like it before you assume the fit. Four reviews, the newest from November 25, 2024, and the published prices are for websites, not applications.

13. Pixel and Texel

Dallas, TX. Founded 2011. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.8 from 3 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $50,000+. pixelandtexel.com, Clutch profile.

Good at. AR/VR 40%, mobile 40%, web 20% on Clutch. The work pages on the site carry the titles Fanta, AMEX and Horizon Worlds. The CEO of Fresh Food Connect wrote on August 5, 2019 that "Pixel and Texel were amazing to work with and incredible partners" (Clutch, August 2019); rentmywardrobe.com reviewed it in 2018. The vendor-written Reddit post that sits first on Google for the head term lists it at #10.

What to check. Three reviews, the newest from 2019, and a $50,000 minimum. The homepage renders in JavaScript, so there's no readable text without a browser, and no founder is shown. Ask for two clients from 2025 or 2026 and for a business app in the portfolio, since the public work is brand and immersive.

14. Software Orca

Dallas, TX. Founded 2016. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.5 from 2 reviews. Hourly $25 to $49. Minimum $10,000+. softwareorca.com, Clutch profile.

Good at. Mobile 30%, AI 20%, custom software 20%, AI consulting 10%, e-commerce 10%, generative AI 10% on Clutch. Co-founder Muzammil Rawjani is named on the about page. Its Dallas page publishes bands: a "Simple MVP" at "$25,000 – $45,000" and a "Mid-complexity app" at "$45,000 – $90,000" (Dallas app page). Both reviews are from late 2025; a sales executive at Silicon Valley Real Estate Team wrote on November 4, 2025 that the team "suggested ways to make them more practical for agents and clients" (Clutch, November 2025).

What to check. Two Clutch reviews at 4.5 against 15 list mentions, the widest gap on this page between how often a firm is listed and how much evidence backs it. GoodFirms shows 50 to 249 staff where Clutch shows 10 to 49; ask for the headcount and where the team sits, since $25 to $49 an hour is an offshore band in Clutch's national guide. Ask what is inside the $25,000 MVP.

Hiring in Dallas versus hiring remote

Start with what Dallas firms say they charge. Clutch's FAQ on its Dallas software list says "Hourly billing typically ranges from $80–$150 for mid-sized agencies and $150–$225 for elite boutiques. MVP builds start around $40,000" (Clutch, October 18, 2026); its Dallas web list says "Most Dallas web dev agencies charge $100–$175 per hour" (Clutch, October 18, 2026). The firms on this page sit near those bands: Sparkfish lists $150 to $199, five list $100 to $149, six list $50 to $99 and two (D3V, Software Orca) list $25 to $49. What a $40,000 first build should contain is on our MVP development page.

The same directory's rows tell a different story. We counted every listing on Clutch's Dallas app-developer list on October 18, 2026: 350 rows with a DFW address once the sponsored "Serves Dallas" rows are removed, 230 of which show a rate. Of those, 49% are under $50 an hour, 27% are $50 to $99 and 24% are $100 or more. The software-developer list runs the same way: 387 rows, 255 with a rate, 44% under $50, 27% at $100 or more. Our count, not Clutch's. The cheap half is where offshore firms with a Dallas address live: TatvaSoft shows under $25 an hour and 1,000 to 9,999 staff on a row that says "Dallas, TX". Half of "Dallas" is not in Dallas.

The wage data explains the gap. A software developer employed in the DFW metro earned a mean $66.74 an hour, or $138,810 a year, in May 2025, against a national mean of $148,100; 67,030 of them work here (BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics, May 2025). Add benefits, an office, a project manager and the sales effort that found you, and a $67 wage becomes the $100 to $199 an hour that six of the Dallas-headquartered firms above list. A firm charging $25 to $49 from a Dallas address isn't paying Dallas wages.

The remote bands come from the same publisher: Clutch's national guide puts custom software at $50 to $99 an hour in the United States, $25 to $49 in India, Ukraine, Mexico and the Philippines, and $50 to $99 in Poland (Clutch pricing guide, October 2026). And "local" and "remote" overlap more than the labels suggest: five of the Dallas-headquartered firms above (HeavyTask, Squareball, Access Solutions, dev.family, Deep Space Robots) describe distributed teams on their own sites, as their profiles note. So the first question for any firm, Dallas address or not, is where the engineers on your project sit and which hours of your day you can reach them.

The local case is made by people who sell local, which does not make it wrong. Semaphore Mobile's founder, Eric Silverthorn, wrote in 2020: "Rarely is it cheaper, faster, or better when outsourcing development projects and we're proud to have our team here in the Dallas area", and in the same post, "About 30 percent of our customers have come to us as a second resource, their first 'across the pond' as they say" (Semaphore Mobile blog, April 16, 2020). Clutch's Dallas FAQ makes the case in directory language: a stand-up a 20-minute drive away, Central time overlapping both coasts, and, among its red flags, heavy offshore staffing without a clear communication plan (Clutch, October 18, 2026). Our reading: the red flag is the missing plan, not the location.

What Dallas buyers have said for themselves is thin and old, because the recent Reddit results for this topic are vendor list posts, the Google number one among them (r/FutureTechDevelopers, March 2026). The last real buyer thread is from January 2021: the asker had "been burned by a couple of recommendations", and the top answer was "Do you have tens of thousands of dollars to spend? Bottle Rocket, probably." (r/Dallas, January 2021); the reply under it added the $250,000 floor quoted in the FAQ.

I have gotten quotes from several larger app development firms in DFW and they are either outrageously over priced or source all the actual work to India. - a buyer who had collected quotes from larger DFW firms, r/Dallas, November 2014

The thread before that, from 2014, reads the same way. The asker reported "Quotes have ranged from $35,000-75,000 no real rhyme or reason why the prices vary so much" (r/Dallas, November 2014), and a commenter who ran a software company replied that "rates for a 100hr project will be $100-200/hr from a shop and $40-100/hr for an independent developer" (r/Dallas, November 2014). Twelve years on, the fix is the same: a scoped milestone plan, and a straight answer on where the engineers are.

Demand is not the problem. DFW startups raised $1.73 billion in venture capital between January and September 2026, behind 2025's pace (PitchBook-NVCA via Dallas Innovates, October 8, 2026); the metro led the country with 11 net headquarters relocations in 2025 by CBRE's count (Dallas Business Journal, April 16, 2026); and Goldman Sachs is building a campus here for more than 5,000 employees (Goldman Sachs, October 1, 2025). That is a seller's market for the few small firms with a recent review record.

Consider working remotely

Deepsel publishes this page, and since we are a remote firm and the thread above names Dallas, we include our details down here. The prices below are our prices.

Deepsel

Wilmington, Delaware company (registered office); team based in Hanoi, Vietnam. Founded 2019. Team 1 to 3. No Clutch reviews yet. Hourly None (flat prices): $3,000 one-week sprint; $4,000 a month half-day or $8,000 full-time per senior engineer; $15,000 a month fractional CTO with build team. Minimum $3,000 (the sprint). deepsel.com. Best for: Non-technical founders who want prices published and the code in their own accounts.

Good at. Deepsel Inc. is a Delaware company. The engineers are senior, sit in Hanoi, Vietnam, and work a daily window that overlaps US business hours, led by the founder, Tim Tran. The work is AI and automation, custom software, web and mobile apps, SaaS platforms, MVPs, legacy modernization and a fractional CTO who builds. Live products: Clubloungery, a booking marketplace; FitFoodies, a consumer app; and eIAM, the Swiss federal administration's central login, whose front end was replaced with no downtime. More project info are on the projects page. Contracts run month to month with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and the IP, repositories and servers are yours from the first commit. Prices and terms are on the software development for startups page.

What to check. No Clutch reviews, so judge us on live products and contract terms. The shipped projects are European. The target market is US startups. The team is small, so there's a waitlist when it's full, and meetings happen inside the US overlap window. And we wrote this page, so read this row with the same suspicion as the others.

Other cities: we keep the same table, with the same rules and the same disclosure, for software development companies in New York, app development companies in Chicago, Houston firms under 50 staff and Austin's small development firms.

Mobile app development in Dallas: eight questions, answered

How much does an app cost from a Dallas development company?

Clutch's Dallas FAQ says "MVP builds start around $40,000; enterprise platforms can exceed $250,000" (Clutch, October 18, 2026), and its Dallas web FAQ prices a "Mid-tier custom platform or B2B SaaS MVP" at "$40k–$120k" (Clutch, October 18, 2026). A vendor page that ranks for the cost query says $15,000 to $150,000 (TechnBrains, October 2026), a seller's number. Minimums here run from $1,000 at D3V to $250,000 at Sparkfish, and eight of the 14 firms won't start below $25,000. Deepsel's smallest engagement is the $3,000 sprint; a one- to two-month MVP under the $15,000 a month fractional CTO retainer comes to $15,000 to $30,000. Our MVP cost guide and SaaS cost guide show what moves those numbers.

What do Dallas software developers charge per hour?

Two answers. Clutch's narrative FAQ says "$80–$150 for mid-sized agencies and $150–$225 for elite boutiques" (Clutch, October 18, 2026). Its listing rows say otherwise: 49% of the 230 Dallas app listings that show a rate charge under $50 an hour, 27% charge $50 to $99 and 24% charge $100 or more (our count, same day). The Dallas-headquartered firms on this page sit at $50 to $199, except D3V and Software Orca at $25 to $49. A software developer employed in the DFW metro earned a mean $66.74 an hour in May 2025 (BLS, May 2025 data), before benefits and overhead. Deepsel's $8,000 a month for a full-time senior engineer is about $50 an hour over 160 hours. Our custom software cost guide covers the rate-versus-scope trade.

How long does an app or custom software project take?

Clutch's review data puts the average software project at about 13 months and the average app project at about 11 months (Clutch pricing guide, October 2026), averages that include big enterprise builds. A Dallas vendor page that ranks for the cost query says custom software here "runs $80k to $300k+ over 4 to 10 months" (Digital Heroes, June 2026). The one timeline complaint among the 171 reviews we read is the Town of Vail's on App Maisters, quoted in its profile. A first version with accounts, one core workflow and an admin screen is one to three months with a team that scopes properly. Ask for a milestone plan with dates before you ask for a price.

How do I check a Dallas development company before signing?

Four checks, none of which needs a technical reader. Sort the Clutch reviews by most recent; eight of the 14 firms here have nothing dated 2025 or later, and a 5.0 from 2019 is history. Compare the firm's own site and the other directories with the Clutch fields: Groove Jones and Software Orca show different headcounts on GoodFirms, Squareball has two founding dates, and Access Solutions describes offices in the USA, Canada and Europe. Read the headquarters on the profile, not the city on the directory row; Clutch's Dallas list shows a DFW city for App Maisters (HQ Houston), The BHW Group (HQ Austin) and Alata Technologies (no Dallas office on its own site). Then phone one reviewer. Our guide on how to choose a software development company has the full question list.

Should I hire a local Dallas firm or a remote team?

Hire on accountability and overlap hours, then on price. A Dallas firm gives you a stand-up you can drive to and Central time, and Clutch's pricing guide puts US custom software at $50 to $99 an hour against $25 to $49 in India, Ukraine, Mexico and the Philippines (Clutch, October 2026). But five of the Dallas-headquartered firms here describe distributed teams (HeavyTask, Squareball, Access Solutions, dev.family, Deep Space Robots), so the address on the invoice doesn't say where the engineers sit. Ask every firm that, and ask which hours of your day you can reach the person writing the code.

Who owns the code when a Dallas firm builds my app?

Whoever the contract says, which is why the question appears in vendor FAQs that rank for this search ("Who owns the code and IP after the app is built?") and on the Edvido directory ("Who owns the code if we stop paying mid project?"). Put three things in writing before kickoff: the IP transfers to you on payment of each milestone, not at the end; the repository, app-store and cloud accounts are opened under your own name before the first invoice; and nothing is subcontracted without your consent. None of the 14 firms above publishes its contract terms on the pages we read, so ask. Deepsel's terms are month-to-month, with the IP, repositories and servers yours from the first commit.

Why are Bottle Rocket, AppVerticals and ISHIR not on this list?

Size. All three sit in Clutch's 50 to 249 band on the Dallas directory read on October 18, 2026, and this page stops at 49. They are the firms every other Dallas list leans on: AppVerticals appears on 23 of the ranking pages we read, ISHIR on 22 and Bottle Rocket on 18, at directory rates of $25 to $49, $50 to $99 and $150 to $199 respectively. Bottle Rocket is also the firm r/Dallas pointed a buyer to in 2021 with the warning "I don't think they will talk to you if your project isn't worth at least 250k though" (r/Dallas, January 2021). If you have that budget, they're easy to find; this list is for everyone else.

Is Deepsel the best company on this list?

No. The table is sorted by Clutch review count, then rating, then name, and Deepsel has no Clutch reviews, so it sits outside the table in its own section with the same fields as everyone else. For the longest Dallas records, read dev.family, App Maisters and Semaphore Mobile; for an in-person stand-up, any of the 13 firms headquartered in the metro. Deepsel fits a founder who wants the price on the page and the code in their own accounts and doesn't need a desk to visit. Nobody paid to be on this page, nobody was asked to, and no firm was told it would appear.

If a prototype already exists, the $3,000 one-week sprint is the cheapest way to see how we work. If you're starting from a blank page, book a free 30-minute call with Tim instead.
