Best software and app development companies in Austin in 2026

Fifteen software and app development companies in the Austin metro, every one under 50 staff on Clutch and headquartered or staffed here rather than "serving Austin" from another state. Each profile carries the location, founding year, team size, Clutch rating and review count, hourly band and minimum project, plus what the firm is good at and what to check before the first call. Two disclosures: most lists Google shows for this search are written by a firm that puts itself first; Deepsel, the publisher, is a remote firm, so it isn't in the ranked table and appears once, after the local-versus-remote section, with the same comparison fields as the others.
The 15 software development companies in Austin at a glance
Sorted by Clutch review count, then rating, then name. More reviews means more to read before you call, nothing more. The bands are Clutch's own fields; where a firm's site says something different, the profile below says so.
| # | Firm | Based in | Founded | Team | Clutch rating (reviews) | Hourly band | Minimum project | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

How we chose the firms
Four criteria, applied in order, to every profile in Clutch's three Austin directories.
- Headquartered or staffed in the Austin metro. Clutch's first-listed location has to be Austin, Manor, Cedar Park, Round Rock or another town in Travis, Williamson or Hays county. Sponsored "Serves Austin" rows don't count, which removes App Maisters (Houston, though its Austin page ranks second on Google), Kingsmen Digital Ventures and Bless Web Designs. Ten firms with an Austin office but a first location elsewhere were left out: Linnify, Tepia, 3Advance, Blank Space, Kreitech, Techling, TekInvent, Texas Software, NorthBuilt and The Sher Agency. Linkitsoft was the hard case: Clutch shows Austin only, but its footer lists offices in Karachi and Malaysia that Clutch doesn't, its newest review is from September 2023, and we couldn't confirm anyone works from the Austin address.
- Under 50 staff. The 2 to 9 or 10 to 49 band on Clutch. Twenty-four firms with an Austin location that appear on the other Austin lists are larger: TekRevol, iQlance Solutions, Praxent, Syberry, Mutual Mobile, ISHIR, Qubika, Rootstack, Akveo, ZAPTA Technologies, Quokka Labs, BRIGHTSCOUT, Taction Software, Rubico, Synergy Labs, Unique Software Development, MMC Global, Moon Technolabs, Rocksauce, Gigster, Coalition Technologies, UPQODE, Infograins Software Solutions, Scio. Most are in the 50 to 249 band; TekRevol, Syberry, Qubika, MMC Global, Moon Technolabs, Rocksauce, Gigster and Infograins are at 250 to 999. Five more appear only as sponsored rows: Designli, SolveIt, Simform, Appinventiv and Vention.
- Software, app or web-application development is the main service line. Not marketing, branding, events or recruiting. That removed Arcanium Ventures (recruiting is 35% of its Clutch work), CM&D (AR/VR 70%), Handsome (brand first, a $100,000 minimum, no review since 2020) and Funsize, a product design studio with a 5.0 from ten reviews whose newest is from May 2020. Four well-reviewed Austin agencies build marketing websites rather than software and belong on a web design list: GLIDE, Uwindi, 11thAgency and DIGITECH.
- A Clutch review since 2023, or published prices. So there's something recent to check. Clear Launch and Evocodes have no Clutch reviews despite topping two other lists; PixelRocket's site is a placeholder and its newest review is from 2020. Cyboticx has 46 reviews at 5.0, but its site would not load on October 18, 2026 from two networks, its three newest reviews carry the same date, and its Clutch locations are Austin and Warsaw, so we couldn't verify a staffed Austin office.
Where the names came from. We read Clutch's three Austin directories in full on October 18, 2026 (248 app developers, 325 software developers, 456 web developers; 633 unique profiles), kept the 563 with an Austin-metro location and the 394 of those under 50 staff, then read 43 profiles in full, re-sorted by most recent, and compared them with the firms' own sites. The ranked lists Google and Brave return for these searches got the same read: every one published by a development firm puts that firm first, and none restricts by team size. The same four criteria, minus the geography, built our national list of small software development companies for startups. No firm paid to appear or was asked to.
The 15 Austin software and app development companies, one by one
"Good at" covers what the firm does and publishes, with its newest Clutch review quoted. "What to check" is what we'd ask on the first call, based on the holes in the firm's public record. Sources: the Clutch profile, read October 18, 2026, and the firm's own site read the same day.
1. Black Widow Tech
Austin, TX (+ Spring and Frisco, TX). Founded 2017. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.9 from 40 reviews. Hourly $25 to $49. Minimum $10,000+. blackwidowtech.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Forty reviews is the deepest public record on this list. Mobile is 30% of its Clutch work and the AI lines another 40% between them. The site footer lists "Houston • Austin • Dallas • New York"; Clutch adds Spring and Frisco. The second-newest review, from the founder of Doda Learning in Dublin on April 8, 2026, reads "They exceeded expectations in all areas." (Clutch).
What to check. Read the newest review first. On April 26, 2026 the owner of a Houston transportation company rated a $50,000 to $199,999 mobile project 0.5 out of 5: "They never completed the job!" (Clutch). Eighteen days earlier a different client gave five stars, so ask what happened and who was on that project. The $25 to $49 band is the offshore band and the site doesn't say where the engineers sit. No founder is named on the pages we read.
2. Inventive Works
Manor, TX (Austin metro). Founded 2016. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.9 from 28 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $5,000+. inventive.io, Clutch profile.
Good at. The one firm on this list that publishes numbers: "Project minimum $5K", "Typical engagement $25K-$250K +" and "Staff augmentation $150-$200 /hr" (how we work page). The about page says "We're ~40 people, veteran-owned and Austin-based since 2016"; Andrew Siemer is co-founder and CEO. The newest review, March 23, 2026, is from a communications manager at the Texas A&M Health Institute for Healthcare Access: "They were candid about platform limits and focused QA on what mattered: content accuracy and usability." (Clutch).
What to check. The site's staff-augmentation rate ($150 to $200) sits above the Clutch band ($100 to $149), and the homepage says "30 Experts" where the about page says about 40 people; find out which numbers apply to you. The same page calls the firm "remote-first, HQ in Austin", so ask where your engineers would be. The two newest reviews come from Texas A&M units, and the newest is a web design and SEO project; for a product build, ask for a software client reference.
3. The BHW Group
Austin, TX (+ Dallas, TX). Founded 2005. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 24 reviews. Hourly $150 to $199. Minimum $75,000+. thebhwgroup.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Founded in 2005 by Brett Burnett, offices on Lavaca Street downtown; mobile is 60% of the Clutch work. The about page draws the line most lists blur: "We do not offshore or outsource and you can be confident in knowing exactly who is working on your application." (about page). Its own service page ranked fourth on Google for "app development company austin" on October 8, 2026. On February 7, 2025 an associate director at Premier wrote the newest review, for an ERP system: "Their creativity and ability to think outside the box have been crucial in addressing challenges." (Clutch).
What to check. The $75,000 minimum is the highest on this list; at $150 to $199 an hour it buys roughly 375 to 500 hours, so come with a funded build. The newest review is from February 2025, so ask for a 2026 client. Clutch lists a second office in Dallas; confirm which one your team sits in.
4. Jackrabbit Mobile
Austin, TX. Founded 2012. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.9 from 18 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $10,000+. jackrabbitmobile.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. A mobile studio on Villita Avenida, "Founded in 2012 by owner Jonathan Rosenberg" per its about page. Clutch puts mobile at 45% of the work and UX at 30%, so design and build sit under one roof, and Chop Dawg's Austin list credits it with the RideAustin rideshare app. The newest review is from an executive at Our Voices LLC, August 13, 2024: "Jackrabbit Mobile's data and backend experience is most impressive to me, even as a data scientist." (Clutch).
What to check. Both newest reviews are from mid-2024. Programming Insider's Austin list shows a "$25,000+" minimum and a "5.0" rating; Clutch showed $10,000+ and 4.9 on October 18, 2026, so check the profile before trusting a listicle. No price on the site; get the number for your scope in writing.
5. Standard Beagle Studio
Austin, TX. Founded 2012. Team 2 to 9. Clutch 4.9 from 17 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $25,000+. standardbeagle.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. The site says what it is: "Standard Beagle is an AI UX agency based in Austin, TX. We help B2B SaaS and health tech companies". Clutch agrees: design is 70% of the work. Founders Cindy Brummer (creative director) and Andy Brummer (senior developer) run it. The newest of 17 reviews, April 1, 2025, is from the VP of marketing at the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra: "They met our unique, complex needs and created a beautiful site for us." (Clutch).
What to check. Design-led, so for a full product ask who writes the back end and who runs it after launch. Two to nine people with a $25,000 minimum; ask who covers when a founder is out.
6. CURTIS Digital, Inc.
Austin, TX. Founded 2000. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.8 from 16 reviews. Hourly $150 to $199. Minimum $25,000+. curtisdigital.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Custom software and web development, 50% each on Clutch, since 2000. The site carries testimonials from American Campus Communities, Artist Growth, H2O Partners and The Authoriti Network, and offers a free 15-minute call with the CEO. The newest Clutch review, August 12, 2022, is from the director of operations at NetTax for a custom portal: "The project management is detailed, timely, and always accessible." (Clutch).
What to check. The newest review is over four years old, so ask for two clients from 2025 or 2026 you can call. The $25,000 minimum buys about 125 to 165 hours at $150 to $199, the top band here. The site offers a call with the CEO but never names one. The Clutch slug is curtis-digital-0-0.
7. Icalia Labs
Austin, TX (+ Monterrey, Mexico). Founded 2012. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.6 from 14 reviews. Hourly $50 to $99. Minimum $5,000+. icalialabs.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Says plainly what it sells: "Icalia Labs is a nearshore staff augmentation firm." (about page). The US office is on Barton Springs Road; the engineers are in Monterrey. Staff augmentation is 70% of the Clutch work; co-founder Eduardo Lopez De Leon wrote the Clutch overview. A consultant at a Seattle management consultancy wrote the newest review on June 6, 2024: "They delivered on time and were responsive to any changes." (Clutch).
What to check. This is staff augmentation rather than a fixed-scope build: you rent engineers by the month and manage them yourself, so if nobody on your side is technical, solve that first. The 4.6 is the lowest rating here; read the reviews under five stars before anything else.
8. Ubiquify Digital
Austin, TX (+ Lahore, Pakistan). Founded 2018. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 13 reviews. Hourly $25 to $49. Minimum $5,000+. ubiquifydigital.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. AI development and custom software at 35% each on Clutch. The site lists a "US Office 13006 Tantivy Dr, Austin TX, 78729" and a Pakistan office in Lahore, and Clutch shows both cities. Thirteen reviews averaging 5.0; the newest, July 30, 2025, is from investor relations at a Vancouver real estate developer: "With the amount of work we send to Ubiquify, I would say their track record is very good." (Clutch).
What to check. The $25 to $49 band and the Lahore office tell you where the engineering happens. Ask which hours of your day the team is reachable and who in Austin is accountable when something slips. The pages we read name no founder.
9. 2BTech LLC
Austin, TX (+ Lahore, Pakistan). Founded 2019. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 11 reviews. Hourly $25 to $49. Minimum $5,000+. 2btechinc.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Clearer about geography than most on this page: "We are a distributed team across Austin and Lahore, and we overlap with US business hours." (homepage). AI development is 25% of the Clutch work, custom software 20%, DevOps 15%. The founder of SERVE & CO in London left the newest review on December 27, 2023: "They respect clients." (Clutch).
What to check. No Clutch review since December 2023. On October 18, 2026 the www version of its site failed with an SSL error and only the bare domain loaded; small, but a software firm's own certificate is a tell. Get the overlap hours in writing and ask for a 2026 reference.
10. SeeSaw Labs
Austin, TX. Founded 2011. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.9 from 11 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $10,000+. seesawlabs.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. The freshest review on the list: October 7, 2026, eleven days before we read the profile, from a former senior product manager at Kasasa, a fintech: "They were very clear about what items are needed to continue moving the project forward." (Clutch). Mobile is 40% of the Clutch work and custom software 30%. The site's case studies are Hospice Pharmacy Solutions, Kasasa, Huddl Health, Kountable and linedanceAI.
What to check. The homepage claims "30+ years building software 100+ products shipped" while Clutch says founded 2011; the thirty years is likely the founders' careers, so ask. The about and services pages returned 404 on October 18, 2026, and no founder is named on the pages that loaded.
11. Boolean Inc.
Austin, TX on Clutch; site adds Houston. Founded 2022 on Clutch; site says 2019. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 10 reviews. Hourly Undisclosed. Minimum Undisclosed. booleaninc.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Mobile is 60% of the Clutch work, web 25%. The site shows two case studies, Shotlining (a pipeline rehabilitation platform) and a private dog parks app, and claims a "38+ Growing Team". Ten reviews averaging 5.0; the newest, January 17, 2025, is from Shop Eunoi, a beauty retailer: "Boolean Inc.'s attention to detail and commitment to realizing our goal truly caught my interest." (Clutch).
What to check. The two sources disagree. Clutch says founded 2022, Austin only; the site says "2019 Founded" and lists "9900 Westpark Dr. Houston, TX 77063" next to "5900 Balcones Drive Austin, TX 78731", with an (832) Houston phone number. Ask which office is staffed. Hourly and minimum are both Undisclosed on Clutch and the site has no prices.
12. Solwey Consulting
Austin, TX. Founded 2016. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 10 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $10,000+. solwey.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Run by co-founders Andrew Drach, PhD (CEO) and Monika Jociunaite (creative director); Clutch spreads the work across nine lines, none above 13%. Ten reviews at 5.0, the newest from July 26, 2026, by the management director of Brightson Brothers Chimney Repair: "Their attention to detail, clear communication, and the high-quality website on time were the most impressive." (Clutch). The CEO of Raise 365 Developments in Austin wrote the one before: "Having gone through four development teams, I can confidently say that Solwey is head and shoulders above the rest." (Clutch, August 2025).
What to check. The homepage says "With 40+ team members across 10+ countries" and, lower down, "LOCATION Austin, Texas"; Clutch says 10 to 49 and Austin only, so treat it as a distributed team with an Austin base and ask where your engineers are. The about and pricing pages returned 404 on October 18, 2026, and the newest review is for a website, so ask to see a software product it built.
13. Eureka Software
Austin, TX. Founded 1986. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 4.8 from 8 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $50,000+. eurekasoft.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. The oldest firm here by fourteen years, on Northland Drive; custom software is 70% of the Clutch work. The about page says: "Our 100% Austin, TX-based team only speaks quality. We don't cut corners or use cheap substitutes" (about page). The co-founder of Einstein Moving Company in Austin wrote the newest review on August 16, 2023, for a custom CRM and mobile app: "They're super willing to get into the weeds about your business so that they can best formulate software solutions." (Clutch).
What to check. Eight reviews in forty years, the newest from August 2023. The $50,000 minimum is the second-highest here, so this suits a business with a budget and a long-lived system to build. The pages we read name neither a founder nor a CEO.
14. SwiftKick Mobile
Austin, TX. Founded 2015. Team 2 to 9. Clutch 4.9 from 7 reviews. Hourly $50 to $99. Minimum $25,000+. swiftkickmobile.com, Clutch profile.
Good at. Mobile is 70% of the Clutch work. The homepage says "Trusted by Experian, Vrbo, & Expedia" and carries testimonials from Cahoots and Tap Inspect. On May 17, 2024 the CTO of a pet-focused financial services company in Austin wrote the newest review: "We were highly impressed with SwiftKick Mobile's technical expertise, attention to detail, and dedication." (Clutch).
What to check. A studio of two to nine with a $25,000 minimum, so find out who picks up your project when the lead is out. The $50 to $99 band is the lowest among the Austin-only firms here; ask whether any of the work leaves the studio. The site footer still reads "Austin, TX © 2024".
15. Touch To
Austin, TX. Founded 2011. Team 10 to 49. Clutch 5.0 from 5 reviews. Hourly $100 to $149. Minimum $10,000+. touchto.io, Clutch profile.
Good at. A studio on East MLK Jr. Boulevard whose reviewers are local; Clutch splits the work evenly across mobile, UX and web. A portfolio manager at Waterloo Capital in Austin wrote the newest review on August 2, 2023: "We were impressed by their communication and creativity." (Clutch). Skimmer, another Austin company, wrote the year before: "They were excellent communicators who were very professional."
What to check. Five reviews, the fewest here, the newest from August 2023. Fifteen years in business means most clients never wrote one, so get two names you can phone. No founder is named. The Clutch slug is touch-0.
Hiring in Austin versus hiring remote
Clutch's Austin FAQ says "Most Austin shops charge $75–$150 per hour" and gives three project ranges: "Prototype or MVP: $25,000–$60,000", "Mid-size web or mobile app: $60,000–$200,000", "Enterprise platform with integrations: $200,000+" (Clutch, read October 18, 2026). Our MVP development page covers what fits inside that lowest band.
The listings don't agree. We counted the hourly band on every Austin-metro profile on October 18, 2026 (our own count of Clutch's listings rather than a Clutch statistic). Among the 297 firms with under 50 staff that publish a band, 48.5% list $100 an hour or more and 33.3% list $49 or less, with 18.2% in the $50 to $99 gap between. Two populations sit under one city label.
The lower population is mostly offshore teams with an Austin address, roughly a third of the "Austin" firms on Clutch, and on this list they say so themselves: 2BTech and Ubiquify in Lahore, Icalia Labs in Monterrey. BHW and Eureka say the opposite as plainly; both are quoted in their profiles above. The minimums follow: BHW $75,000, Eureka $50,000, Standard Beagle and SwiftKick $25,000, against $5,000 at Ubiquify, 2BTech and Icalia.
The wage data shows what the all-local firms are paying for. Austin employed 31,960 software developers in May 2025 at a mean of $69.05 an hour, 2.28 times the national concentration (BLS, released August 13, 2026), before payroll tax, benefits, recruiting and the office. A firm billing $100 to $149 an hour, the most common band in our count, covers those costs plus a margin, which is why BHW and Eureka, the two firms here that say every engineer is in Austin, start at $75,000 and $50,000.
The remote bands, from the same directory's national guide: US software firms $50 to $99 an hour; India, the Philippines, Ukraine and Mexico $25 to $49; Poland $50 to $99; and across every firm it lists, "Most software development companies listed on Clutch charge between $24–$49/hour for their expertise." (Clutch, updated September 21, 2026). GoodFirms puts the median across its 187 Austin software firms at $37 (GoodFirms, October 2026), but its Austin list leans offshore, so that $37 is an offshore number with an Austin label. Don't average pools this different.
Clutch's case for hiring locally, from the same Austin FAQ: "Access to top talent graduating from UT Austin, Texas State, and Code Fellows. Face-to-face collaboration in the same time zone, vital for agile sprints. Connections to Austin's investor network and domain experts in sectors such as clean tech and semiconductors. Competitive rates compared with Silicon Valley, without sacrificing quality." The investor network is real: Austin startups raised $7.19 billion in 2025, a record (Crunchbase News, March 27, 2026). Whether your development firm needs to be in it is a separate question from whether you do.
Two ranking pages argue the two sides, and both are selling. Chop Dawg, a Philadelphia firm that ranks itself first on its own Austin list, says a remote US team matches a local studio's value without the overhead (Chop Dawg, June 2026). Systalent, which sells Austin-based staff, answers that an Austin address on a ranking page is often marketing and what matters is whether anyone in the city does the work (Systalent, October 2026). Both are right about the other one.
Be cautious of: hours that don't overlap, and a vendor who didn't say where the team sat until the first standup meeting. A third of the Austin-labelled firms above carry the same risks under a local address, so ask every firm on this page the same two questions: who exactly is on my project and where do they sit, and which hours of my day can I reach them.
Consider working remotely
Deepsel publishes this page, and since we are a remote firm and the thread above names Austin, we include our details down here. The prices below are our prices.
Deepsel
Wilmington, Delaware company (registered office); team based in Hanoi, Vietnam. Founded 2019. Team 1 to 3. No Clutch reviews yet. Hourly None (flat prices): $3,000 one-week sprint; $4,000 a month half-day or $8,000 full-time per senior engineer; $15,000 a month fractional CTO with build team. Minimum $3,000 (the sprint). deepsel.com. Best for: Non-technical founders who want prices published and the code in their own accounts.
Good at. Deepsel Inc. is a Delaware company. The engineers are senior, sit in Hanoi, Vietnam, and work a daily window that overlaps US business hours, led by the founder, Tim Tran. The work is AI and automation, custom software, web and mobile apps, SaaS platforms, MVPs, legacy modernization and a fractional CTO who builds. Live products: Clubloungery, a booking marketplace; FitFoodies, a consumer app; and eIAM, the Swiss federal administration's central login, whose front end was replaced with no downtime. More project info are on the projects page. Contracts run month to month with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and the IP, repositories and servers are yours from the first commit. Prices and terms are on the software development for startups page.
What to check. No Clutch reviews, so judge us on live products and contract terms. The shipped projects are European. The target market is US startups. The team is small, so there's a waitlist when it's full, and meetings happen inside the US overlap window. And we wrote this page, so read this row with the same suspicion as the others.
Put that against the bands above. $8,000 a month for a full-time senior engineer works out near $50 an hour across 160 working hours, the bottom of Clutch's US band. A one- to two-month first version under the $15,000 a month retainer costs $15,000 to $30,000, inside Clutch's Austin MVP range.
Other cities. The same table and criteria exist for software and app development companies in Dallas, small development firms in New York, app and software developers in Chicago and Houston's software and mobile app developers.

Clutch's Austin page gives three ranges: "Prototype or MVP: $25,000–$60,000", "Mid-size web or mobile app: $60,000–$200,000" and "Enterprise platform with integrations: $200,000+" (Clutch, read October 18, 2026). Inventive Works, the only firm on this list with published prices, says "Project minimum $5K" and "Typical engagement $25K-$250K +". The Clutch minimums here run from $5,000 (Inventive Works, Icalia Labs, Ubiquify Digital, 2BTech) to $75,000 (The BHW Group). Our MVP development cost guide covers first versions and the custom software development cost guide covers larger systems.
What do Austin software developers charge per hour?
Clutch's Austin FAQ says "Most Austin shops charge $75–$150 per hour". Our count of Clutch's Austin listings on October 18, 2026 found 297 firms with under 50 staff and a published band: 48.5% list $100 an hour or more, 33.3% list $49 or less, and the most common band is $100 to $149. On this list the bands run from $25 to $49 (Black Widow Tech, Ubiquify Digital, 2BTech) to $150 to $199 (The BHW Group, CURTIS Digital). An employed Austin software developer earned a mean of $69.05 an hour in May 2025, before benefits and payroll tax (BLS, released August 13, 2026).
How long does a first version take?
None of the fifteen firms publishes a timeline, so here's the arithmetic. Clutch's Austin MVP band of $25,000 to $60,000 at its quoted $75 to $150 an hour is 170 to 800 hours, one engineer for one to five months. The nearest published timeline from a firm with an Austin office is 3Advance, an Arlington, Virginia company left off for that reason: "$15K - $90K 4–12 Weeks" (pricing page). Deepsel's first version takes one to two months under the fractional CTO retainer. Ask every firm for the date of the first thing you can click.
How do I check an Austin development company before I sign?
Four steps that take an hour. Sort the Clutch reviews by most recent; the default order is "Relevance" with a featured review pinned on top, which is how Black Widow Tech's 0.5-star review from April 2026 sits below a five-star one, and why BHW's pinned review is from 2019. Compare the firm's site with its Clutch profile on headcount, offices and founding year; Boolean, Solwey, Black Widow Tech and Inventive Works all show a gap. Read the newest low-star review in full and ask about it on the first call. Check the slug: curtis-digital-0-0 and touch-0 are the firms above. Our guide to choosing a software development company has the longer question list.
Should I hire in Austin or go remote?
Decide on who is accountable and which hours you can reach them, then on price. About a third of the "Austin" firms on Clutch are offshore teams with an Austin address, so "local" needs checking even inside the city. The firms that keep every engineer in Austin and say so, The BHW Group and Eureka Software, start at $75,000 and $50,000; the Austin firms with Lahore or Monterrey teams start at $5,000. A remote firm with published prices and a stated overlap window, which is what Deepsel is, should be judged by the same two questions.
Who owns the code?
Whoever the contract says, so read that clause before the kickoff. Ask for IP assigned to you on payment, the repository and cloud accounts in your name from day one, and no subcontracting without your consent. None of the fifteen firms above publishes its contract terms on the pages we read, so ask. Deepsel's terms are published: the IP, repositories and servers are yours from the first commit, month to month, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
My website needs fixing, or my app is half built. Is an agency the right call?
Austin Reddit gives two consistent answers. For a small business website, use a builder: "FWIW, unless you have VERY specific requirements, you're going to save a lot of money if you use a service like Squarespace, Wix, Weebly, etc." (r/Austin, June 2021). A half-built app means a rewrite: when a founder asked r/askaustin for help finishing an AI-assisted build, the reply was "100% expect whoever you find to tell you this is a rewrite, not a “get it over the finish line”" (r/askaustin, August 2026). A related r/austinjobs post budgets $30 to $50 an hour for ten hours of fixes (r/austinjobs, July 2025); the lowest minimum on this list is $5,000. If the app is worth finishing, our software project rescue page explains how we assess one first.
Is Deepsel the best company on this list?
No. Deepsel is the publisher, is not in the Austin metro, and is not in the ranked table, which is sorted by Clutch review count and would put us last. Our row sits after the local-versus-remote comparison, with the same fields as everyone else. For an all-Austin team with the budget to match, The BHW Group and Eureka Software; for a mobile app, Jackrabbit Mobile and SwiftKick Mobile; for published prices from a local firm, Inventive Works. Deepsel fits a founder who wants a remote senior team at flat published prices with the code in their own accounts. Nobody paid to be here, nobody was asked to, and nobody was told in advance.
If you're weighing an Austin quote against a remote one, the $3,000 one-week sprint on an existing prototype is the cheapest way to see how we work. For a blank page, book a free 30-minute call with Tim instead, and bring the quotes.
